Summer 2016

Summer is here!  Your preschool graduation was a total hit.  Summer is a time filled with fun in the sun.  This summer, you joined Explorers full-time at Excelsior Elementary.  At first, Mama felt bad that you had to spend the entire summer going to Explorers.  Then, I realized all the fun you are having!  Every week you have field trips, ice cream trucks, tons of outside time in the playground and visits to the library.  You enjoyed every day at Explorers. 

Field trip at Explorers included many different parks and splash pads, Children’s Museum, the como zoo, the MN zoo, Crayola, movies and Edinborough tree house.   Meibo also came and visited us this summer. 

In addition to field trips, you also had lots of day camps at school.  Some of your favorite camps was Minecraft, Superheroes and Wonders of Nature.

When Meibo was here, we got two new pets – fish!! You named them Chippy and Mooey.  We also played outside as much as we could and had a pool in the backyard.

What’s new?

June 15 – you started to wear clothes!  Instead of wearing PJ’s you wore clothes to school, tee’s and shorts.  Your very first oufit was blue crayon J

June 18 – you asked Mama, ‘what if you grow another baby in your belly mama? I think it will be a girl’.  How cute is that?!  Although I don’t think Mama will chance it as there seem to be a lot more Berger boys than Berger girls.

July 16 – Look how well I colored in the circle!  You do an excellent job of coloring in the lines.

July 18 – “That’s fine, I can deal with it”  (clearly you are getting older)

July 22 – “Mama you need to stop finding poke stops or else Bradley’s school will close.  Sometimes we need to do the right things for the right reasons”  Seriously??!!  Where are you learning this from?  Yes, Mama has been obsessed with Pokemon over the summer.

July 22 – “I’m Ellen’s boyfriend and she is my girlfriend”.  Ellen was in your preschool class and also in Explorers this summer with you, I think you guys are so cute together.

July 26 – “Bill, I don’t like to show my pirate parts like my penis.”  Do you mean your private parts?  Fascinating how quickly you learn b/c a few months later, you immediately referred to private parts.

August 1 – “I like my monies because they feel so awesome to me.  I want to save them all and just look at my monies. Mama, “that’s just like Anthony gege”.  Ben, “yeah, I want to be just like Anthony gege then”

August 3 – Baba, “I don’t want to hear it”.  Ben, “Then who wants to hear me?”

August 9 – “Stop Bill, don’t challenge us”

August 22 – Mama was starting to get you ready for Kindergarten. “Beni, what do you want to be when you grow up?” Beni – “your son”.  Well, this made me cry like a baby.

As we started to wind down summer, the big hurrah was attending the state fair.  You actually went twice.  Once for Beni Mama day and once with me, Baba and Bradley.  Your favorite ride was the Giant Slide with the potato sack.  The first time, you went with mama.  Then, you went another handful of times by yourself. We also went on the sky ride and then lots of rides in Kidway.

Summer was a big success, you had lots of fun, played with friends, went on field trips and started to ease into Kindergarten.  I think you are more ready than mama.  Beni, I love you to the moon and stars.  You are growing up so fast and I’m so lucky to be your mama.
